COUNCIL
There shall be a Council consisting of a President, a Vice-President, an Administrative Officer, and at least two other persons elected from amongst the Fellows and Associates of the Institute;
Every candidate for election as a Member of the Council at the Annual General Meeting in each year shall be nominated, in writing, by a Fellow or Associate, and such nomination shall be lodged at the office prior to the date of the Annual General Meeting.
At the Annual General Meeting of the Institute in each year the Council shall retire, but shall be eligible fro re-election.
The election of the President, the Vice-President, the Administrative Officer and the vacancies amongst the members of the Council for the ensuing year shall be taken at the Annual General Meeting, provided that where there is no candidate for the position of Administrative Officer from amongst the Fellows or Associates present, then the Council shall be empowered to elect or appoint an Administrative Officer either:
From amongst its own Members or;
From outside its Members including a person who is not a Member of the Institute provided that in this latter event such person shall have no voting rights in the affairs of the Council and shall act merely as a Secretary.
The Council may at any time appoint any Fellow or Associate a Member of the Council to fill a vacancy and any Member so appointed shall remain in office until the next Annual General Meeting, and shall be eligible for re-election at the meeting.
The Council may in addition co-opt to its body such Fellows and/or Associates as it may decide.
